ACCEPT Education Collaborative, in cooperation with school districts, has a rolling admissions process

and typically has openings in each program at various times throughout the year. The admission process is

comprehensive and lengthy to insure each child’s programs is designed to maximize potential. Therefore, anticipated

enrollments are known in advance and ACCEPT can predict and plan for incoming students

 

What students are best suited for ACCEPT’s programs?

The ACCEPT Programs admits students who:

  • Will be or has been referred by the school district, and
  • Have a current Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • ACCEPT also admits students who need an Extended Evaluation.

A student’s program may focus on therapeutic services if the student:

  • Has at least average ability, demonstrated by standardized tests or informal assessments
  • Has discrepancy between performance and measured or observed abilities
  • Has a history of issues with attendance, behavior, and/or inadequate coping skills
  • Will benefit from an integrated team model that seamlessly blends clinical services within the practices and routines of the school day

A student’s plan may focus on life skills if the student:

  • Has complex language and learning difficulties
  • Has issues with behavior and/or inadequate coping skills
  • Needs moderate to significant modifications to the MA Curriculum Frameworks in order to make effective progress
  • Will benefit from a blended program of academic, daily living, personal/social, and occupational skill development

Admission Process

Step One | Referral from Sending School District

To keep the process efficient, we request that parents work with their school district to begin the process. To make the visit as productive as possible and guide families to visit the appropriate classrooms and see the services that are best for their child, it’s helpful to have a complete referral packet in advance of a visit. However, there are some circumstances where the sending district may make a special request for a family to visit before all the paperwork has been shared with 

Step Two | Intake Assessment Review

The process usually is completed within 72 hours of receipt of a packet.

Step Three | Take a Tour of ACCEPT

Parents will meet with admissions representatives and during that time the student has an opportunity to meet with

staff and students in the program. Parents and students tour the school building and observe classrooms in action.

The visit lasts approximately one hour and concludes with an opportunity to ask follow up questions.

Step Four | Suitability

Once the assessment review and tour are complete ACCEPT staff determine whether our program is a good fit and

can address the unique learning, behavioral and social/emotional needs of the student. A determination is sent to

the sending district.


If no seats are available, a wait list is maintained, especially when it is anticipated that an opening will be available

within 2months. If the time between the original referral and the availability of a seat is more than 2 months,

ACCEPT may ask to re-evaluate the student to ensure that the placement is still a good fit.

Step Five | Complete Welcome Packet

A Welcome Packet must be completed by the parent/guardian prior to the student starting in the program. The

packet includes information about emergency contacts, health forms, and other required document
