5/13 Mental Health Workshop: Simple Effective Strategies and Techniques for Dealing with Students with Disruptive, Defiant and Explosive Disorders

  • Implement simple and effective strategies that will change the disposition of even the most resistant child and teen.
  • Summarize ten essential skills for diffusing anger in children and teens.
  • Utilize a number of techniques to diffuse explosiveness and to prevent future outbursts.
  • Implement techniques that will assist children and teens to become more cooperative and respectful.
  • Utilize tools to develop trust and motivation while avoiding the pitfalls of power struggles and disengagement.

 

 ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Author, speaker and Family Therapy Expert Susan P. Epstein, LCSW, brings passion and 30 years of practiced psychotherapy together to share new materials and easy interventions to engage even the most resistant child. She is an author of two parenting books Are You Tired of Nagging: How to Get Cooperative Kids (2008) and The Take Back Your Parenting Powers System (2007) …and has co-authored a children’s book about death, loss and healing, The Cat Who Lost Its Meow (2008).Where did my adorable child go? And other FAQ’s that parents of teenagers ask is due to be released shortly. In addition to her clinical work, Susan is a national child behavior expert, and has appeared in Family Magazine, Parents Magazine, American Baby Magazine and New York Magazine. She founded Parenting Powers (www.parentingpowers.com), a coaching company that provides parent coaching services to parents all over the world. Susan also maintains an active family therapy practice in Connecticut.
